Helen Has Been Moved to a Nursing Home

Helen is very weak and lately has been in and out of consciousness. She is currently in a nursing home. She is not up to having visitors, but flowers or plants would be enjoyed and appreciated. Also, Jim will gladly read cards and letters to her so please feel free to write.

Her address is:
Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Room 6

One of our favorite memories is about the comment you made when Peter was born. (We already had two girls.) You said something like, "I'm so glad you will have the experience of having a boy. Girls like to look at rose bushes, but the boys like to dig them up!"

We love Sister Vernon. She is such a bright lady. I remember first meeting her about six months ago. She welcomed me in immediately. As a missionary that is something that is very important. I remember that when we needed help with an investigator, she took it upon herself to make time, even if she wasn't feeling too well. How grateful w are to know so grand a woman.

I loved you as my Seminary teacher. We all got to feel special with a home-made cookie of some sort on our birthdays--they were always a fun, new kind that none of us had ever tasted before, and they were all DELICIOUS!!

I also will never forget Moroni 7:45... "This is 7 year old Charity and her 45 year old dog, Longsuffering." You made it easy to remember the scripture masteries.

Dear Helen,

We love you and Jim and your family! It was a joy being together in land locked Berlin and serving and loving the members.

We always had such great activities and fun together. That made it feel so much like family and we were able to smile and laugh and cry together.

We miss you and we miss those days and all that was and is dear to us. Thanks for sharing your lives with our! God Bless and keep you. All our love and prayers are with you all!

Love,
John & Carlene Uhler

Helen was my visiting teacher while we were stationed at Wright Patterson. She was wonderful. I remember borrowing the Work and the Glory series from her a book at a time. She was so patient every time I'd bug her for the next book in the series! But probably my favorite memory of Helen was when she took me to a Reba/Brooks and Dunn concert. It was my favorite concert to date. She was so kind and I loved spending that time with her and laughing about the noise. At one point, before the actual concert had started, she leaned over to me and said, "It doesn't seem as loud anymore." I told her that I thought it was because we were going deaf! We had such a good time. My family has such love and respect for the Vernon Family. I was even able to be Rachel's laurel advisor, which was wonderful. Jim taught our gospel doctrine class and was one of the best gospel doctrine teachers we have ever had.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and in our prayers.

We love you,
Solana and the Carlisle Clan
